NEW! Project Leader and Teacher Positions

We are recruiting talented and motivated individuals who are interested in becoming more involved in a leadership role. We will give you the training you need to successfully manage an event as a Project Leader or the training needed to be a Teacher of our K-12 environmental education programs.  These new positions are open to ALL volunteers. While previous experience would be an added bonus, it is not a requirement.


What is a Project Leader?

Project Leaders represent KGMB at community outreach events and special events. They will be responsible for setting up, running activities and managing other volunteers at the event.

  • Gain experience in event planning and management
  • Gain experience in recruiting and managing volunteers

How can I become a Project Leader?

Becoming a Project Leader requires a few extra steps beyond a general volunteer:  

  1. Complete General Volunteer Application
  2. Complete Project Leader Training
  3. Complete Project Leader Application
  4. Pass Background Check
  5. Decide on area of interest
  6. Set up schedule to shadow KGMB Staff 
  7. Complete shadowing sessions

 

What is a Volunteer Teacher?

Teachers will be assigned to one of KGMB education programs based on areas of interest and availability.  Teachers will be trained and given the opportunity to lead or co-lead education classes.

Why be a Volunteer Teacher?

  • Learn about science topics and current issues
  • Gain experience in public speaking
  • Receive discounted trainings (Project WILD Aquatic, Project Learning Tree - Early Childhood)

How can I become a Volunteer Teacher?

Becoming a Teaching Volunteer requires a few extra steps beyond a general volunteer:
