Why is the Milwaukee T.R.E.E House being created?
For over 27 years, Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB) has remained a valuable resource to the community. We use a unique combination of community improvement and environmental education programs to accomplish our goals. Among these goals, we strive to immerse children in fun and interactive learning to promote future stewards of the environment. We stress the importance of nature-based learning and its positive effects on the artistic, recreational, and social development of children. We also recognize the lack of environmental education facilities and green space in local urban neighborhoods.
The Milwaukee Teach Responsible Environmental Education (T.R.E.E) House serves as an extension of our values and vision, to deliver environmental education to the community that will enrich the lives of residents, especially children.
--Provide opportunities for children to create positive connections with the natural world
--Expand on these connections through purposeful movement and interaction for increased mental health and psychological development
--Reduce crime, increase safety, bring neighbors together
--Foster community pride and ownership
The building of this facility at this location, at this time is about investing in the people of this community. Join us in investing!
What makes this facility unique?
The Milwaukee T.R.E.E. House differs from traditional environmental learning facilities because we focus on neighborhoods after school. Encouraging children to remain productive and active after school inspires success. After school programs also allow families to explore nature together and learn together! The Milwaukee T.R.E.E. House connects with Lynden Hill, an urban green space, managed by KGMB, that provides numerous ecological, social and environmental benefits that promote healthy, sustainable communities. This unique and special location offers boundless opportunities for learning.
